ABOUT

You will find the Travellers Rest on the A6108 the main road between the beautiful Georgian
market town of Richmond and Scotch Corner.

Our History

The Travellers Rest is a traditional old English pub built in the 1800’s. Sadly the pub closed in 2008. After many years of being closed the SCPS (Skeeby Community Pub Society) with over 200 shareholders took over the pub in January 2022. Then the work began to restore and refurbish the shell of a building. The work was carried out mainly by volunteers and members of the SCPS. All of the work was carried out to a very high standard this is clearly obvious when you enter the pub and look around. The aim of the SCPS was to provide a warm and welcoming environment. The Travellers Rest is now a charming and welcoming place to visit for either a drink or some of the amazing food.

Our History
Dog Friendly

Dog Friendly

We are a dog friendly pub and provide blankets for dogs to lay on. There is also a shelf dedicated for dogs. Here you can help yourself to blankets, water & biscuits. We also have dog treats for sale. Our under floor heating in the main seating area is a favourite for our four legged visitors. After a walk and a treat they soon get very comfortable and have a well earned rest.

The Garden

The beautiful garden is south facing and when the sun graces us with its presence, it's a wonderful place to be. Sitting in the sun surrounded by the wonderful sounds of nature having a nice cold drink and maybe a spot of lunch or dinner. On a Wednesday evening from spring to autumn there is the welcome to the season sounds of the quoits playing a match. Sunday evening is also practice night. If you have played before you are more than welcome to come along and assist our team with some practice games.

Gifts & Artwork

Gifts & Artwork

In the pub you will find some artwork by artists who live in Skeeby. This consists of a selection of paintings and photographs. Most of these are for sale and all money goes directly to the artist. We also sell other products produced in the village. We have a selection of jewelry, hand carved walking sticks, greetings cards, crochet work and the most wonderful honey produced in the village. There is also a shelf of books & jigsaws for sale. The money for this is via a charity honesty box raising funds for CRACCL Catterick, Richmond and Colburn Community Libraries.

Garden room

This room faces out to the garden therefore has lots of natural light. We use this for small private functions, birthday parties which can also overflow into the garden, anniversaries and any other special occasions too. We have also held business meetings here too with menus to suit requirements. Our chef is very accommodating and will discuss menus with you whatever the occasion may be.
